Lexington, Kentucky; November 10,2016: Once again, Kentucky Marines have answered the call in support of their wounded brethren and their families, through an enthusiastic response to a matching challenge. Although a symbolic check totaling $70,000, reflecting this wonderful donation, was presented on November 10, 2016, to Ms. Wendy Lethin, Vice President and Co-Founder, Semper Fi Fund (www.semperfifund.org), who traveled to Kentucky to thank Kentucky Marines for their continuing support of injured and wounded Marines worldwide, additional donations were subsequently received from individuals, as well as memorials, increasing the total to $85,575.50, a portion of which ($60,575.50) will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation (GoDaddy.com) “Double Down for Veterans,” resulting in a net contribution of $146,151.00. Since 2008, the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky (MCCCK) has generated $918,632.00, either directly or indirectly, in support of the Semper Fi Fund, for which the entire Marine Corps community in Kentucky should be justifiably proud.
Presenting the check to Ms. Wendy Lethin (Semper Fi Fund) on behalf of Kentucky Marines were Ms. Kathy Huck, Volunteer Representative – Kentucky, Semper Fi Fund and Mr. Houston Hills, Jr., President, MCCCK, joined by Mr. Tom Bulleit (Lexington) and Mr. Ted Bassett, Chairman, MCCCK (Midway). Our most sincere gratitude to the wonderfully generous Marines and Friends of the Corps, who through their generosity exemplify the MCCCK motto “Marines Serving Marines.”
