“TOYS FOR TOTS” RECOGNITION OF WLKY COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP 2022

Louisville, Kentucky; April 5, 2022:  Each year, since 2014, WLKY has teamed up in a community partnership with Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots, for its annual Christmas collection drive in the Greater Louisville area. In recognition of the great support provided by WLKY, a framed vintage Toys for Tots poster, inscribed “WLKY – In Grateful Recognition for a Supportive Community Partnership” was presented to Glenn Haygood, President and General Manager by Capt Cletis S. Evans, Jr., USMC (Retired), Coordinator, Toys for Tots Greater Louisville Area. During the presentation, Capt Evans commented on the critical outstanding community service that WLKY annually provides the Toys for Tots effort in the Greater Louisville Area, through televised public service announcements, live news coverage of events, and outstanding reporting. The dedication, commitment and hard work of WLKY employees have contributed greatly to the success of the Toys for Tots program, in fulfilling its mantra “every child deserves a Christmas.” Through the combined efforts of Marine Corps veterans and WLKY, over 353,000 toys have been provided to over 138,000 children in Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Henry and Owen Counties in Kentucky, since 2014. Capt Evans noted that the professional dedication to the Toys for Tots mission reflects great credit on WLKY and its employees, while keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation. During the ceremony, Debbie Roberson, Program and Community Affairs Coordinator, WLKY, was also honored for her tireless individual efforts in support of Toys for Tots since the inception of the community partnership. Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky (MCCCK), which facilitated the presentation, salutes both WLKY and the Toys for Tots Program Greater Louisville, for its community partnership and years of service to the children of our region.
