Louisville, Kentucky; May 18, 2018: Master Sergeant Shawn King, Operations Chief, Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky, was honored with a Louisville Armed Forces Committee (LAFC) “Patriot Award” during its annual Armed Forces Day Dinner at the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport Hotel. Serving as operations chief since July 2016, Master Sergeant King played a vital role in bringing over 1,400 young men and women to Marine Corps recruit training. Master Sergeant King is a veteran of three deployments to Iraq, as a a crewman on an amphibious assault vehicle at Camp Fallujah; as an embarkation specialist with Regimental Combat Team 2 at Al Asad; and as logistics chief for latter, during the last seven months of his deployment, a billet normally filled by a more senior non-commissioned officer. During multiple assignments in the continental United States, Master Sergeant King has excelled in various support capacities.
